Well I've got to say, I don't think I have ever been so happy in my whole life. Nothing particular has happened - no song of mine has just been chosen to be the theme tune to Paris Hiltons new tv show, I haven't received a surprise Brit Award for innocence ingenuity, and above me the sky is a blank white sheet, devoid of any iconic romantic inspiration. But it is a great day...and to celebrate we are holding the first Unlit of the year this Friday 12th February at Tim Varlow's house in Islington (email lee@unlitrecords.com for address). Anytime from 8pm is good.
The line-up is like a mini-festival. New folk-songwriter on the block with spectacles and a tweed jacket, L.A. Salami, will join songwriter Tim (from spanish scottish Ska rascals Big Hand), US electro-twinkly-sample pedal folk queen Lettie and the young cads with twirly moustaches and velvet suits that are The Cash Cows, and yours truly, to provide you with some seriously celebratory entertainment....all in the house of a man who is putting it on simply because he loves the Unlit vibe and wants to have a great night. So, please come with a bottle of your favourite tipple, your respect for Tim's house and we shall have a grand old time.
Now lastly - if it really frustrates you that Unlit is free and you really want to show your appreciation for what it's about in a financial way....finally there is a way! please please join up and help me put out this new record with a properly funded campaign....and make a pledge at www.pledgemusic.com/projects/222/ . We have articles coming out in the evening standard and the sunday times soon....more exposure to come and the new single All My Life is going to radio in the next few weeks...so please make a pledge and you will have directly helped us make this thing happen....and also got a load of free stuff in to the bargain!
Meanwhile, next stop Unlit on Friday! See you there I hope!

ps and it's last chance to buy the hand made letterpress valentines cards I made in 1995 and left in a drawer at my parents house. They're actually quite sweet....the front says "smiled you" in tiny red letters, the inside "smiled back"....I've signed and numbered them on the back. Again, go to pledge to get one of these.
